Youth at St Chad's Sheffield
"Passing on the message of Christ to the next generation"
Since our former Youth Minister Andrew Foulkes, left St Chad's at the end of 2010 to take up a position at St Luke's, Lodge Moor Sheffield, St Chad's has been working closely with Woodseats Methodist church to formulate an agreement for a Youth Worker for Woodseats to be supported and funded equally by both churches.
We are delighted that the hopes and asprirations for a Christian Youth Worker to work in the Woodseats area were shared by both churches and we are currently in the process of recruiting. | |
In the meantime, we have a dedicated team of volunteers who continue to support and build on what Andrew started. We hope there is something for everyone so please have a look through the different groups that meet throughout the week and on Sunday's:
Sunday:
'Born 4 Heaven' is a group that meets at Church House on Abbey Lane from about 11.15am-12.15pm during the 'Lifted' Service in church. For anyone in Year 6-9 we have fun, play games and also seriously explore the meaning of the Christian faith to young people today.
Thursday:
'God's Gorgeous Girls' (GGG) is a groups just for girls. Meeting in church from 7-8.30pm, they have lots of fun and learn more about what it means to be a girl of God! Suitable for girls in Year 5-8.
"Rooted" is a group for boys in year 5-8. It meets in church on Thursday from 7.30pm-8.00pm. They meet to have fun with a variety of activities, bible study and prayer.
Rooted and GGG meet together at least once a term.
People involved in Christian youth and children's work in Woodseats and Beauchief meet at St Chad's once a month for Youth and Children's Prayers. We meet to catch up on what's happening in the various churches, have breakfast together and pray about the different groups and issues surrounding the work we do. |
