Living a Life of Faith, Energised by Love

Christmas 2020

Christmas this year will feel very different for all of us. Physical gatherings will be limited and, as the year come to a close, we look back on a year in which people have lost jobs, loved ones have died and where we have seen many care for the sick, vulnerable and those in need.

comfortBut this Christmas, what has not changed is the story and the meaning of Jesus’ birth. God is with us in Jesus. With us in the mess, the disappointment, the difficulty and the sorrow, but also with us in times of joy and celebration. We have lots planned to help us think about and celebrate the birth of Jesus this year.

A simple prayer for Christmas this year: “God of comfort and joy, may we know your presence with us today and bring your gentle, joyful love to others, this Christmas and always. Amen.”

Advent is the season leading up to Christmas. We've already had an online Christingle Service and Pub Quiz. We've had carol singing on St Chad's Church Field and on the streets of Woodseats, as well as a contemporary evening service featuring carols in Advent.

starThroughout Advent and Christmas look out for Stars of Hope on the streets and in windows around Woodseats and Beauchief. See here for all the information and a map of some locations.

Visit our Facebook Page where mini video clips of parts of the nativity story will be posted. We would love you to join in and post your versions!

During Lockdown we created a whole series of activities online for families based on stories from the Bible. As we get near to Christmas we've added more activities about the birth of Jesus. Get creative, spend time together as a family and take a look at our Christmas Activities page.
