Living a Life of Faith, Energised by Love
We're the parish church for Woodseats and we are a group of people who think the message of Jesus is great news for today. In this time of Covid restrictions many services and activities that would usually take place such as Third Age meetings, toddler groups etc. are being suspended until the end of the pandemic. God, however, is unrestricted and even when we can't meet together we can still pray for, and serve, our local community.
This home page is regularly updated, so read on to find out what is happening. Do like our Facebook Page, follow us on Twitter, or sign up to our mailing list to receive updates about what is happening.
Holy Communion (9am)
Our weekly Communion is a traditional service in the Church building, but with some Covid-19 restrictions. Social distancing is in place, masks must be worn (unless you are exempt) and there is, at present, no singing permitted.
Mission Partnership Pre-Recorded (from 10am)
St Chad's Woodseats is part of a local Mission Partnership of Churches. Together we have a weekly online service, available from 10am on Sundays. See our Facebook Page (you do not need to have a Facebook account) for the links to all the services, or go to our Mission Partnership YouTube Page. Below is the service for Sunday 4th April 2021 (Easter Sunday).
Zoom Storytelling (4pm)
We have a Bible story and a Julia Donaldson story which are linked in some way, and opportunity to reflect on the stories. It lasts just under half an hour and is aimed specifically at young families with children up to about year 5, but we have a good range of ages gathering to think about faith and God. Anyone who joins us will be able to engage with the service by listening, contributing, praying and reflecting on faith together. Contact James to find out more or to receive the weekly Zoom information.
Morning Prayer: Mondays-Thursdays
From 29th March 2021 you can join us for Morning Prayer in the building at 9am, or via podcast shortly afterwards, found here. There are a mixture of prepared and unprepared prayers, and a conversation surrounding the Bible passages set for the day. You can find the words you need to follow along here.
Families at Home
For younger members of our church family, we have produced some activities. Find out more by going to our Lockdown Faith at Home page. There are various fun activities to help you explore stories from the Bible together, including one based around Christmas.
“God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgement: in this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear.” 1 John 4
